Our client has an opportunity for an experienced Aviation Training Implementation Lead to join them on a short-term contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organisation, providing class-leading aviation support.

Role: Head of Training/Chief Pilot (CBTA Deployment Lead & Instructor Focal).

Location: Gatwick Airport or Manchester Airport, Hybrid or virtual will be considered.

Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract ASAP Start until December 2025.

IR35 Status: Inside.

Travel: Expect to travel up to 50%

Our major OEM client supports customer airlines with the implementation of CBTA (Competency-Based Training and Assessment) & EBT (Evidence-based Training). This is a safety-enhancing program. This contract role is to provide additional support and capacity within our client’s global CBTA Deployment team during 2025.

The CBTA Deployment team is part of our client’s training Solutions and is dedicated to the development of capable and resilient commercial aviation professionals. Their training products are trusted worldwide and are backed by our client’s knowledge and research to increase learning efficacy and enhance aviation safety.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a CBTA Deployment team of subject matter experts at a customer airline to determine the airline’s needs to transition to our client’s CBTA/EBT program.
  2. With prior Instructor experience, review the pilot training needs to determine appropriate competency-based training content, objectives, and design, in line with the CBTA/EBT program.
  3. Oversee activities in the airline’s development, delivery, and evaluation of competency-based training & assessment (CBTA).
  4. Evaluate current airline training philosophy and support the airline during their transition to a CBTA/EBT program.
  5. Gather data & provide detailed reports to support the airline CBTA proposed development activities.
  6. Evaluate accuracy and quality of airline training delivery. Present proposals to customers. Consult with others regarding the airline CBTA program.

Required Experience:

  1. Have or has held a commercial pilot license, preferably with prior Boeing aircraft experience. This is a non-flying role.
  2. Ideally held a management position in an airline Flight Operations or Training Department for a minimum of 3 years.
  3. Excellent understanding of pilot training program regulatory requirements.
  4. Understands the principles of a CBTA and EBT program.
  5. Excellent presentation & communication skills.
  6. Demonstrable experience in leading a team remotely & independently.
  7. Understands the principles of SMS and applicability to pilot training.
  8. Extensive pilot instructional background (TRI/TRE) (greater than 3 years).
  9. Proven track record of successful delivery of complex projects across a variety of areas; ideally within the commercial airline training sector.
  10. Understand project and program management principles and practices.
  11. Ex-Military Pilots welcome.
