We have an opportunity for a Credit Controller to join our Finance team, based in our Newcastle office. Reporting to our Credit Control Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced credit control professional to make a genuine impact on the future success of our business.

About the role.

This role is all about building strong relationships with both internal and external clients. You’ll be responsible for managing your assigned ledger, reducing debtor days, identifying problem areas, and making recommendations for their resolution. Regular liaison with partners and fee earners will be key, including conducting meetings in person or via MS Teams.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  1. Chasing outstanding debts via telephone, letter, and email, in line with firm policy.
  2. Maintaining accurate records of chase history and agreed payment timelines.
  3. Proactively resolving and monitoring queries to ensure timely payments.
  4. Providing collection forecasting and preparing key reports/statistics.
  5. Assisting with credit reviews and risk assessments where required.
  6. Collaborating with other Business Support Teams, including Finance, Business Assurance & Risk, and Best Practice.

About you.

We’re looking for someone with experience in credit control, preferably in a legal or professional services setting. You should be comfortable using Excel and Outlook, and able to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a busy environment. Good communication skills are a must, as you’ll be interacting with people at different levels. If you have a keen eye for detail and love tackling issues head-on, we’d love to hear from you!

To be successful in this role, you’ll need as a minimum:

  1. Previous experience in a credit control role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
  2. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and Outlook.
  3. Experience managing multiple workloads and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
