Purpose of Job

  • The Finance Management Reporting & Analytics team delivers performance reporting and performance analysis for the EMEA Region.
  • The team supports a wide range of stakeholders within Finance and across the organisations marketing and strategic planning departments.
  • Involved in the end-to-end delivery of analytics reporting solutions and supporting adoption of data transformation and data analytics applications.
  • Proactive exploration and Finance use case prototyping of reporting, productivity, and other applications / tools to drive efficiency, innovation, and data governance.
  • Empower analytics application end users through the enhancement documentation and training materials curricula ensuring these reference materials are actively managed for updates.
  • Ensure analytics and reporting change is managed appropriately and in a timely manner from a Finance perspective.

Background

  • This role is part of the EMEA Finance function within the Management Reporting & Analytics team who are responsible for the bank’s performance reporting, budget monitoring, performance analysis and data visualisation.
  • The role will involve supporting a range of stakeholders across the organisation. The role will increase capacity within the team to expand Finance business partnering activities.
  • The team drives and / or contributes to business analysis across a broad cross section of disciplines primarily using data stored in the EMEA MIS platform. The role will include business performance analytics / data modelling, strategic reporting, performance reporting, management accounts, system change / product evolution.

Facts / Scale

  • Dual hat responsibilities mean the team support both Corporate Bank and Nikko Capital Markets businesses across EMEA.
  • The organisation is structured into verticals relating to Corporate and Investment Banking, Structure Finance Solutions and Sales & Trading. There is scope in this role to support engagements across these verticals supporting decision making.
  • Finance Function has a presence in London, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Milan and Dubai and sub departments relating to Financial Reporting, Management Accounting & Analytics, Finance Change, Tax, Product Control and Regulatory Reporting.
  • The MIS System, TheMIS, is primary database and includes data for EMEA entities and data from transaction booking systems, the role will support data analysis requests, data visualisation and analytics system testing.
  • The role will include scheduled analysis and performance reporting activities.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Proactively contribute to the evolution of Power BI analytics with timely and accurate updates to shared dashboards and strengthening governance framework around data analytics delivery.
  • Perform required data analysis, data modelling, data integration and data reconciliation activities to support a wide range of stakeholders both in terms of functional roles / subject matter and across corporate grades.
  • Solicit / clarify and document business analysis and reporting requirements through workshops and other facilitation techniques.
  • Deliver semi-automated solution prototypes and EUC tools designing and implementing appropriate systematic and / or procedural controls to provide assurance over the completeness and accuracy of the solution; Write and maintain technical and user process documentation to help describe and use such solutions.
  • Perform and direct timely User Acceptance Testing completion for / by Finance colleagues and other stakeholders. This will include UAT of Reporting outputs / New Products / data model validation.
  • Data analytics change management planning and delivery activities relating to Power BI Workspaces. This will require stakeholder management across multiple business areas.
  • Lead and participate in data analytics working groups and other relevant fora.
  • Finance Management Reporting and Analytics SharePoint content management: creating new content, periodic reviews and content updates as required / directed.
  • Draft / review / update User Documentation for Power BI Platform, data models, data transformation and dashboards. This may require technical analysis and collaboration with system developers to translate complex data transformations and processes into plain English which can be understood by a wide business audience.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a finance-based reporting role (management accounts, financial reporting, product control, tax or regulatory reporting) highly desirable.
  • Experience of working with Business Intelligence tools (particularly PowerBI and Tableau) essential. Confident working with large data sets and performing data reconciliation is essential.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational qualification in a Finance / Banking / Accounting / Data Science / Data Analytics Discipline. Advanced MS Excel skills / experience is essential;
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles is essential.
  • Practical knowledge of SQL highly desirable and practical experience using MS PowerBI Dax, MS Teams and MS SharePoint is desirable.
  • Prior experience working within Corporate or Investment Banking is highly desirable.
  • Experience performing user acceptance testing (UAT) is desirable;
  • Effective communicator with experience working with remote stakeholders.
  • Confidence in working both as part of a team (leading / participating) and as an individual.
  • Prior practical experience using MIS Systems & transactional booking systems such as LoanIQ is desired but not required.
  • Prior experience requirements gathering / documenting requirements is desirable.
  • Positive and proactive in learning, accurate and methodical in delivering work and able to proactively look for opportunities to improve processes / documentation through innovation.
  • The role is responsible for leading / contributing to a wide breadth of activity and so the learning curve is both steep and relatively long in duration. A patience and eagerness to get up-to-speed is vital.
  • Requires confidence in utilising a wide variety of IT tools and applications and so is suited to individuals who are highly IT literate. Candidates will routinely be required to demonstrate advance use of Data Analytics & Data Integration Tools alongside MS Excel.
  • Effective candidates will be able to multitask, manage their time effectively and manage stakeholder expectation through clear, timely and effective communication.
  • Some system testing and other duties may require late working or out-of-hours working.
