About the role
The Customer & Commercial Planning team presents an exciting opportunity to join and lead the development of our Customer facing plans within Boots UK, delivering stretching commercial KPI’s whilst ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
A high profile, high visibility role working with senior stakeholders across all business units, this role offers a unique opportunity to create the best strategies and plans for the total business. Balancing sales, profit and share growth with customer-centric KPI’s and governance control, this role combines the best of commercial, marketing and insight to develop the best possible customer facing plans both instore and online.
The Go to market and planning team sit centrally within the Customer & Commercial Strategy team, whilst playing a critical role to the total function, across Commercial, Digital and insights in particular. This Customer and Commercial Planning Manager role reports to the Head of Customer & Commercial Planning. Peers and critical stakeholders of this role are across all the Business unit and marketing leadership teams as well as strong links into both Core and Commercial operations, as well as the wider Go to Market team. To ensure the development of our best customer facing plans, we work hand in hand with the Boots Digital teams.
Responsibilities
- Delivery and planning of an in-year trade plan which drives meaning and difference for Boots:
- Responsibility to ensure the plan is strongest possible grounded in insights and best practice
- Guardian of the processes and governance that drive the creation of the plan
- Responsibility to review & respond to changes in market context & deliver reactive changes to the plan (and our processes and governance to facilitate this)
- Ongoing review of the in-year trade plan and particularly the elements within it (e.g. promotions, NPD or the marketing plans) to ensure these are sufficient to achieve our targets
- Chair of critical planning meetings with senior leaders across the Boots & No7 Beauty Company leadership teams
- Consolidation & communication of campaign performance, market & competitor activity to influence future activity, communicated to the rest of the business
- Optimisation of our process, governance and ways of working to continually optimise the delivery and efficiency of our plans (as well as drive and facilitate innovation)
- Owner of the Commercial & Customer annual planning process, working alongside our governance teams to ensure successful adherence to our in-period planning cycles

- Highly effective stakeholder management, including the ability to influence across all stakeholder levels
- Solid commercial acumen and experience
- Track record of delivery to targets, through the creation of owned plans and strategies
- Ability to drive for the right blended plan and outcome
