Virtualization Engineer

This is a unique opportunity for an expert in virtualization and storage technologies. The Principal Architect will be a hands-on design engineer, specializing in virtualization technologies for virtual servers and VDI using VMware and Nutanix.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design enterprise level virtual technologies for the firm
  2. Manage the day-to-day administration of VMWare and Nutanix clusters
  3. Performance and capacity management projections
  4. Create documentation for best practices in deploying Hyper converge solutions
  5. Provide virtual platform system technical performance and availability recommendations
  6. Plan and engineer expansion of converged infrastructure
  7. Deploy and test HA/BCP virtual environments for the firm
  8. Provide guidance for virtualization best practices
  9. Participate in the design and support of all backend infrastructure components for the virtual environment for the firm.

Required Skills:

  1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with VMWare technologies
  2. 2 – 3 years of hands-on experience with Nutanix HCI
  3. Extensive Virtualization Experience such as design, implement, and manage virtual environments, including Datacenter cluster(s) managed by vCenter.
  4. Experience with VMware vCenter design/Nutanix Prism Central and implementation best practices.
  5. Experience with building and maintaining high-availability (>99%) VMware environments
  6. Extensive server hardware knowledge with HPE, Dell or SuperMicro server
  7. Ability to perform root cause analysis on all VMware products. E.g. ESX hosts, Virtual Centers, and Virtual Machines
  8. Ability to administrate, maintain, and troubleshoot Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) attached to Virtual environments
  9. Thorough knowledge of setting up different BCP technologies such as Zerto, SRM, Rubrik, Netbackup etc
  10. Ability to collaborate with different teams working across different areas in multiple locations in different time zones

Nice to have skills:

  1. Experience working with GPU at the enterprise level for VDI deployment.
  2. Working experience with other operating systems such as Linux, Windows
  3. Basic network knowledge working in an enterprise data center Environment.
  4. PowerShell or Python scripting experience is a plus
  5. Familiar with automation tools such as Chef, Jenkins, Pipelines and etc
  6. Experience with other hypervisors such as Citrix XenServer, Hyper-V, OpenStack is a plus.
  7. Container experience with Kubernetes or Docker is a plus
