The Opportunity
A highly regarded UK Top 100 law firm is seeking an ambitious Senior Associate / Junior Partner to join its expanding Banking & Finance team in London. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a growing and collaborative team, working alongside experienced partners while taking ownership of a high-quality caseload.
The successful candidate will join a tight-knit and supportive group, working on a range of corporate and commercial property finance transactions, as well as bringing expertise in a specialist area such as real estate finance, structured finance, asset-based lending, receivables finance, trade finance, or regulatory finance matters.
This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to contribute to business development, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in shaping the practice’s growth.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a diverse banking and finance caseload, working independently on transactions, and collaborating with teams across Corporate, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Real Estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a varied caseload of corporate and commercial property finance transactions.
- Providing specialist advice in an area such as real estate finance, structured finance, asset-based lending, or regulatory finance.
- Working closely with partners and running transactions independently.
- Playing a key role in business development, leveraging an existing client base and network to introduce new clients to the firm.
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members, ensuring their development and high-quality work output.
- Collaborating with the firm’s Manchester office and other practice areas to offer a full-service approach to clients.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years PQE with experience in banking and finance at a reputable UK or international law firm.
- Strong ability to run finance transactions independently in a commercial property or corporate finance context.
- Expertise in at least one specialist area of finance, such as real estate finance, structured finance, asset-based lending, trade finance, or financial regulation.
- A confident communicator and relationship builder, with strong client management skills.
- Demonstrated business development experience and an existing network that can contribute to the growth of the practice.
- Ability to supervise and develop junior lawyers, fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and practice areas.
