Charge Nurse (In Patient Unit)

Hospice Band: 6

Hours: 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts – Long Days split over Monday to Friday)

Starting Salary: Step1 £44,273 WTE pro rata per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week) (rising to Step 2 £ 48,636 WTE following satisfactory performance review) + Pension + Benefits

We are looking for an approachable, enthusiastic and committed registered nurse for this exciting and varied role. You’ll be based with our IPU team and be instrumental in providing support to our highly motivated and innovative staff providing high quality safe care. Working with the IPU lead, practice development team, quality assurance team, and wider hospice MDT, you will provide inspirational and motivational clinical leadership to a team of registered nurses and nursing auxiliaries. Your responsibilities will be to lead, supervise and manage the daily performance of staff, students, bank and agency staff and volunteers who are providing care to patients and act as a resource for clinical and professional learning.

You will also play a key role in developing new projects and initiatives that positively impact on the care that we deliver throughout our clinical services in supporting safe, effective and person-centred practices.

You will need an appreciation and understanding of working in a busy environment and be responsible for implementing and maintaining well-organised systems to deliver a varied range of project objectives on time.

You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a great team player, can work independently and be able to work under pressure

This post requires the post holder to have a criminal records check at a PVG scheme record update level. An application will be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. A joint application will be made which the Hospice will pay for.
