As a Senior Project Planner in our Development Services group you will be an integrated member of our UK Site Evaluation & Restoration team whose role is to transform underutilised (often brownfield) land into high quality, productive, valuable and sustainable assets. Our current project portfolio includes new garden communities, urban regeneration schemes and proposals for regeneration of industrial facilities throughout the UK.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will pro-actively engage with project stakeholders, including Clients, project and technical leaders, project team members, and contractors to develop, maintain and adapt, when required, complex and interdependent project plans. You will be responsible for ensuring all work and outputs are executed to meet project or programme needs and objectives whilst also contributing to the development and growth of the SER Project Controls community capability.

  • Support the delivery of projects and promote Arcadis’ excellence in external/client communications. Work with project teams and senior stakeholders in schedule development and milestone definition, in managing the alignment of scope, time and cost, coding, resource loading, logic linking and establishing performance measurement baselines to record and track progress on schedules.

  • Develop effective working relationships with the Project Director and/or Project Manager and with the Client to ensure effective communication of progress and changes and proactive resolution of issues.

  • Work collaboratively with teams from across Arcadis in different service lines and sector roles to bring the best of Arcadis to our clients

  • Monitor the performance and progress of team members and subcontractors, identifying and resolving issues with the project team, escalating where necessary. Ensuring consistent application, effective and timely delivery of time management across the project.

  • Maintain project schedule assumptions, inclusions and exclusions, sequencing and construction productivity rates where necessary.

  • Apply critical path analysis and shock absorber techniques and support the management of change and the impacts of scope creep.

  • Produce, review and quality-assure project outputs (e.g. progress reports, project programmes) to ensure that they meet or exceed Client expectations and Arcadis requirements, and comply with national standards and codes of practice where relevant.

  • Monitor project progress against baselines and develop, innovate and create clear metrics which detail progress on a project to enable the project manager and wider team to have insight into execution issues and how to resolve them.

  • Analyse Contractor critical path updates, schedule progress, and evaluating schedule options; and communicating schedule status to the Project Manager, Client, consultants, and others.Support business winning activities for major opportunities, by helping sales and delivery teams plan and scale an engagement.

  • BSc/BA/BEng qualified (or higher) in a relevant subject.

  • Professional experience and proven track record of consultancy work related to understanding brownfield development, remediation and regeneration planning.

  • Expertise in the use of Primavera P6, MS Project and other project planning tools.

  • Ability to build logical and linked project programmes, including critical path analysis, resource and cost loading, and data assessment.

  • Ability to work both within both small dispersed teams and larger multidisciplinary teams in order to deliver projects to tight deadlines and budgets.

  • Commercial & technical risk awareness.Chartered or Professionally Qualified with a relevant external body, or at least working towards chartership.
