Role Purpose:

To be responsible for the overall smooth running of the academic programme at the EP Summer Camp and ensuring the teaching team produces a positive language learning experience according to our syllabus and programmes. To ensure all necessary paperwork and academic administration such as attendance, scheduling, teacher meetings, CPD, certificates, and progress reports are completed and to work with the Centre manager and staff to ensure safe operations for both students and staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the academic programme and curriculum of the centre.
  • Oversee set up and pack down of academics at your centre and assist other teams when able.
  • Support and promote the academic values of English Path to our group leaders and students.
  • Lead and monitor academic team performance and provide constructive feedback and/or development plans where necessary.
  • Manage the timetabling of lessons and allocation of classrooms and teachers.
  • Manage timesheets of hourly paid teachers.
  • Organise cover for sick/absent teachers.
  • Submit weekly numbers to your line manager.
  • Lead teacher observations at least once and teacher training sessions each week.
  • Promote safeguarding within your location and work with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Help provide emotional and pastoral care for all students and teachers and promote their mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Maximise student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Any other reasonable/appropriate duties.

Academic:

  • Ensure teachers complete all aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work appropriate to the course and type of students, and that learning outcomes are met.
  • Monitor the accurate record-keeping of student attendance and other administrative duties as agreed with your line manager.
  • Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
  • Ensure teachers use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
  • Attend meetings to contribute to the decision-making process and develop productive working relationships within the various teams.
  • Ensure teachers are on site no later than 15 minutes before the start of their first lesson.
  • Have regular meetings with teachers and their line manager to set objectives and measure progress towards those objectives.
  • Provide a full induction to all new teachers.
  • Take on other responsibilities as required to support the work of EP.

Skills and Experience:

  • First degree or equivalent (Level 6 Qualifications and Credit Framework).
  • TEFLQ (DELTA, DipTESOL) qualification or equivalent.
  • Management experience in all year-round school/summer school.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, including time with teenagers.
  • Excellent English language knowledge and an in-depth understanding of teaching methodology in a multi-lingual environment.
  • Structured and creative approach to lesson planning.
  • A desire to continue to develop professionally and support less experienced teachers.
  • Experience providing support and feedback.
  • Ability to work with classroom technology with ease and creativity.
  • Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude.
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
  • Ability to work under pressure and plan and prioritise own workload.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and commitment to teamwork.

Safeguarding and Welfare Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for promoting safeguarding within their venue and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Help provide emotional and pastoral care for all students and promote their mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Effectively manage and support teachers with classroom management and student behaviour.
  • Be aware of prevent duty which aims to safeguard vulnerable individuals from being drawn into terrorism and report any concerns to the Prevent lead and/or safeguarding lead.
  • Familiarise yourself with EP\’s safeguarding policy, attendance policy, safer recruitment policy, and other related policies to ensure a clear and correct process is always followed to protect children.

  • To EP\’s Social, Economic, and Environmental responsibilities and minimise environmental impact in their role while contributing to the delivery of EP/GBS\’s Environmental Policy.
  • To EP\’s Health and Safety responsibilities to ensure a safe working environment for staff, students, and visitors to the campus.

Working Hours:

Residential Summer Centre Management Staff are expected to work up to 48 hours per week, 6 days a week, with a day off usually on Saturday.
