We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in Surrey seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Head of Finance to lead a talented team and help re-position finance as a core strategic partner to the business. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on transformation, leadership, and business engagement.
About the Role:
This is not a BAU finance leadership role. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the finance function, embedding best practice, and driving commercial insight across the organisation. You will be tasked with turning around perceptions of finance and placing it at the centre of business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team spanning financial reporting, FP&A, tax, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key finance partner to senior leaders and executives, building trust and influencing strategic decisions.
- Statutory Accounting: Oversee all financial reporting requirements, ensuring full compliance with statutory obligations and internal controls.
- FP&A: Drive budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making.
- Tax & Compliance: Manage all aspects of tax compliance, including VAT and corporate tax, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Audit Management: Lead the external audit process and maintain robust relationships with auditors and regulators.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably in complex, fast-paced, or changing environments
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing finance teams
- Strong communicator with the ability to engage, challenge, and influence at senior levels
- Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused with a strong commercial mindset
- Experience in transformation and driving cultural change within finance is highly desirable
