Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer (Nuclear Fire)

Location: South West (Remote first) – Occasional travel to Plymouth

Start: ASAP – subject to clearance transfer

Duration: 12 months

IR35 status: Inside

Hours: 37.5

Clearance: Applicants must currently hold SC clearance.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to lead the our clients safety team, overseeing the production of safety deliverables and ensuring the effective delivery of services in alignment with defined strategies and project scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the preparation of nuclear safety documentation for a nuclear installation.
• Ensure compliance with engineering design, safety practices, project specifications, and planning.
• Support construction, operation, refit, and repair of nuclear submarines or related specialist facilities (desirable).
• Lead the management of nuclear fire safety deliverables and services.
• Apply engineering and safety best practices to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Engineering or Science (BEng, BSc) or equivalent experience.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (or working towards Chartership).
• Extensive experience in nuclear safety management, including the preparation of all categories of safety documentation.
• Familiarity with construction, operational support, and risk assessment within the nuclear sector.

• Ability to work independently while ensuring alignment with project and regulatory requirements.
