SQA Engineer
Peterlee, Co. Durham (site based role in Peterlee – no Hybrid)
£35.00 ph FCSA Umbrella (this role is deemed inside IR35)
£25.00 Paye
Duration: initially 12 months, likely to extend & become long term, ongoing role
Location: Peterlee, Co. Durham
Will also involve visits to suppliers based in the UK & Mainland Europe (likely once or twice a month max)

Role Overview:
Supplier Quality Engineer will be working with a global automotive manufacturing company based in Peterlee.

Responsibilities:

1. Support NPI Projects and work closely with suppliers to ensure Procurement & Supplier quality using APQP & PPAP.
2. Proactively work with suppliers up to APQP & PPAP submission point, using quality product planning tools.
3. Work onsite with suppliers confirming live data of product quality and ensuring the correct number of parts and quality for NPI Projects.
4. Confirm systems in the PPAP and cross-reference the PPAP, checking the output of the process and measurement criteria.
5. Collaborate with suppliers and internally on new part introduction including APQP conformance.
6. Develop, analyze, and document cost information supporting new product development and design improvements.
7. Obtain quotations and implement engineering changes on existing part numbers.
8. Manage supplier activity closely with Purchasing and other Engineers.
9. Mediate trade-off discussions early in the design process to balance performance, quality, velocity, and cost.
10. Lead cross-functional teams to meet multiple cost opportunity objectives.
11. Assess suppliers for QCLDM and drive implementation of Lean & APQP processes.

Qualifications:

1. Experience dealing with suppliers, PPAP, and APQP processes.
2. Manufacturing background in Castings, Precision Machining, Fabrication, Fasteners & Fixings.
3. Experience in developing Supplier metrics and problem resolution.
4. Experience using Supplier Issue Investigation tools such as Root Cause Analysis, PFMEA, 5 WHYS, FISHBONE/6M, ECA/ICA/PCA (STOP/FIX).
