We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Regional Compliance Specialist to join our field based Convenience team & for the right candidate we’re offering a very competitive salary.

You’ll be responsible for compliance in 200 of our Convenience stores in the South of England. This role will play a pivotal role in keeping our stores trading in a safe and legal manner. The successful candidate will have a great understanding of all Safe & Legal disciplines (Food Safety, Health & Safety and Trading Standards) as well as loss prevention. A truly varied role supporting Store, Area and Regional Managers improve compliance within their stores.

Reporting into the Regional Technical Manager this role supports stores in Food Safety, Health & Safety & Trading Standards matters, knowledge of these areas would be an advantage but full training would be provided to the right candidate. Equally the successful candidate will support our stores with investigations into security issues such cash and stock loss.

Applicants should reside in North London/Essex/Suffolk and have a full driving licence for this field based role.

A typical week in this role looks like…

Your home will be your base location but you’ll spend most of your time out supporting stores. Your week will be driven by the business needs and will include visiting stores supporting improvement plans, carrying out complex investigations, conducting audits and upskilling/coaching colleagues & managers. Depending on location these may require you to stay overnight in a hotel.

As a point of contact for Safe & Legal in your region you will take calls, attend meetings and respond to emails throughout the week. You will build relationships and influence others to support your delivery of a Safe & Legal culture.

With individual projects to deliver you will manage your own diary to ensure business critical activities are managed and your project is delivered on time.

Role Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive);

Support the Regional Technical manager in providing a Safe & Legal management service for Convenience stores across the Region.

Build engagement with the store teams & share data trends, working with the teams to agree suitable solutions.

Manage/coordinate activity where a risk to our business has been identified and work with all stakeholders to improve standards

Coordinate and manage enforcement challenges, ensuring there is minimal disruption to store trading.

Provide a reactive service for serious food safety, trading standards and health & safety issues and other serious incidents

Support the central teams by providing timely information and advice

Use a partnership approach in order to coach Area, Store Managers and colleagues in the required safe and legal standards/ general good practice.

Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Police) to effectively promote safety and legality

Knowledge (although training will be provided):

Knowledge of Trading Standards, Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation.

A good understanding of food safety, health & safety, trading standards quality / management systems

Knowledge of Retail & Post office end to end operations

Customer focussed with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude

Great communicator & reporting / data manipulating skills

Skills

Experience

Experience of managing serious incidents

Experience of working with local authorities on trading standards, health and safety and food safety matters

Food Safety & Fire Safety Auditing experience

Incident investigation and management
