An industry leading consultancy is looking to bring on board an Electrical Design Manager for some of the newest and most exciting projects in the UK.

  • Job Title – Electrical Design Manager
  • Location – Glasgow
  • Contract Length – 12 Months
  • Pay Rate – Up To £70 hour (Inside IR35)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • As the Design Manager, you will be responsible for developing, leading, managing, and coordinating electrical technical design packages. This includes defining project objectives, overseeing designer performance, and making key technical decisions to ensure engineering work packages meet the required scope, quality, timeline, and budget.
  • Ensuring the design documentation meets the operational requirements as specified by the Project Manager.
  • Planning and implementing a project design and safety approach that aligns with Design and Safety Policies/Standards.
  • Authoring, developing, and maintaining the Electrical HV/LV Design Substantiation Documents.
  • Providing strong technical justifications to support electrical design modifications within a high-risk industry.
  • Reviewing and validating calculations and technical documents produced by team members.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status, registered with the Engineering Council.
  • Extensive experience and a deep understanding of HV/LV design
  • Proven experience in project specification, planning, project management, and budgeting.
  • Experience working within the UK nuclear industry (energy or defense), especially in the design and evaluation of safety-critical structures, systems, and components.
  • Familiarity with safety case development methods, such as HAZID/HAZOP studies.
  • Experience providing design support for the construction, operation, refitting, and maintenance of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or related facilities.
