Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the primary role is to leverage your technical expertise and experience to contribute to the development of products, technology, capability, and reliability across a range of products, whilst ensuring that best practice and the Company’s defined engineering processes are followed. Key Responsibilities: * Working within a multi-discipline engineering team to meet the project requirements. * Developing designs from a provided concepts through to manufacturing detail, including manufacturing/assembly drawings, specifications of proprietary components, supporting calculations and reports. * Participating in internal and external design reviews, providing technical input throughput the development of a product/solution. * Supporting verification of fellow engineers’ designs. * Developing the testing requirements for both prototype and product manufacture. * Supporting build, commissioning, and trials of new products. * Supporting delivery of customer training, plus generation of operating and maintenance instructions. * Analysing problems and coming up with ideas/designs to solve them. * Working within the budget to deliver safe, effective products, on-time and to specification. * Maintaining a knowledge of current technical trends to assist in the development of current and future products. Skills & Experience: * A minimum of a 2:1 bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, with 2-3 years of related engineering experience. * Experience of modern engineering design tools (2D + 3D CAD, Analysis, etc) * Excellent working knowledge of MS office applications including Excel and Word * Basic knowledge of hydraulic and control systems with experience of working as part of an engineering team. * Experience of working within a design team. * Acts with honesty/integrity to build trust, respect, and commitment in the workplace. * Ability to investigate and interpret data, issues, and situations, to make sound decisions. * Self-motivated, proactive and results driven approach to work. * Demonstrates strong interpersonal awareness & considers the thoughts, feelings, emotions of others. * Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. * Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining high quality. Security Clearance: As a defence contractor there are many security obligations in place which means that all staff must be able to successfully achieve the relevant security clearances. In order to be eligible to apply, you must have a valid British passport, and have held it for a minimum of 5 years. Additional information: Mostly office and shop floor based, but there may well be requirements to visit client sites both in the UK and overseas.
