Senior Architect / Architectural Technologist Hours: Full-Time Location: Based in Coventry (covering projects throughout the UK) with some working from home possible. The Role: An ambitious Architect / Technologist who is keen to flourish in a busy environment. You will have both design and technical skills and a strong eye for detail. A working knowledge of BIM will be an advantage and an interest in passive design and sustainability will be considered as differentiating factors. Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities: Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to all members of the architectural team. Take receipt of a brief and, with only limited intervention, manage the design process from initial sketches to full detailed design in line with the RIBA Plan of Work. Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards, and relevant CoPs. Select and advise on material specification, respecting the limited availability of natural resources when making design decisions with consideration of design life and durability. Author specifications and source up-to-date technical information from manufacturers, ensuring this is evidenced in project folders Assist in gathering and preparing information to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations, and Building Safety Gateways. Contribute to and help coordinate the development of Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and Deliverables and Design Risk Management. Assist the Project Team with designing to a budget and, where required, help with value engineering. Participate in project review meetings and coordinate with members of the wider Design, Operations, and Procurement Teams. Undertake proper and sufficient checking of architectural information prior to forwarding to the Technical Director for approval. Ensure compliance with Document Control in line with Protocols. Your Skills and Experience The following qualifications would be required: Registered with the ARB or chartered with CIAT, with approximately 10 years of post-chartered experience working in the UK. Ideally, you have cross-sector experience, including in the Education Sector delivering to the DFE framework, though commercial and leisure experience is an advantage. Experience in drawing and delivering within BIM Level 2 workflows and environments. Proven ability to lead architectural project teams and manage multiple complex projects concurrently from inception to completion. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex design concepts to a variety of audiences, combined with exceptional problem-solving abilities and a dynamic "can-do" approach. Knowledge of other design software, including Lumion, Photoshop, InDesign, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office, is preferred. Understanding of NBS/Uniclass Specification software. Familiarity with Passivhaus and timber frame construction is advantageous. Demonstrated commercial awareness of design and construction processes. In return Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 negotiable.
