My client is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in house building to join a well-established house building company with sites across West, East, and South Yorkshire. The role offers a hybrid working environment, splitting time between the office and site-based duties. The ideal candidate will be based within the regions mentioned, as travel will be required to different sites across the area. As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing costs and contracts for residential construction projects, from pre-construction through to completion. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth financial management of multiple projects, and you will work closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to deliver homes of the highest quality. Key Responsibilities * Manage costs across multiple residential projects, ensuring they stay within budget and are delivered to the highest standards. * Oversee the procurement process, including liaising with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. * Prepare cost plans, estimates, and budgets for residential developments, working closely with the project team. * Monitor project progress and manage variations, ensuring any additional costs are properly accounted for and documented. * Assess and value works carried out on site, ensuring that subcontractor claims are accurate and fair. * Prepare final accounts and ensure that all necessary documentation is in place for project closeout. * Collaborate with the Contracts Manager and site teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality homes. * Ensure that the project’s financial performance is closely tracked and reported, addressing any risks or issues that arise. * Provide advice on contractual issues and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. What They’re Looking For * Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on house building and residential construction projects. * Proven experience in managing costs and budgets for large residential projects. * Ability to work across multiple sites, managing procurement, cost reporting, and financial controls. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and the internal project team. * Strong knowledge of contracts, including JCT and NEC, and the ability to manage contractual obligations. * Solid experience in pre-contract cost planning, estimating, and final account preparation. * A relevant qualification such as a degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) would be highly desirable. * A strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify risks and proactively address them. * The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. * Flexibility to travel within West, East & South Yorkshire, with occasional travel to the North West and Midlands for additional projects.
