Java Engineer

Job Title: Java Developer Location: Belfast (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office) Salary: Up to £50,000 Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview: We\’re working with a leading digital consultancy known for delivering scalable software solutions across eCommerce, fintech, and media. They\’re hiring a Java Developer to join their growing Belfast-based engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact digital products within a collaborative, fast-moving environment. You\’ll contribute to full-stack development across a mix of client projects and internal platforms, with a focus on writing clean, well-tested Java code as part of an Agile team. Responsibilities: Build, maintain, and enhance backend services using Java and related technologies Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and product leads to deliver full-stack features Integrate with third-party APIs and services Participate in code reviews, stand-ups, and sprint planning Write unit and integration tests, ensuring code is robust and production-ready Contribute to architectural discussions and tech decision-making Required Experience: Solid commercial experience with Java (Spring Boot preferred) Familiarity with RESTful API development and integration Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) Agile delivery experience Strong problem-solving skills and team collaboration Nice to Have: Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Experience with frontend tech (e.g. React, Angular) Interest in product-driven or design-led development environments Apply here or reach out to Aaron Somers at Ocho for more information via LinkedIn.
