Principal Business Analyst (Investments) – 9 month Contract
Who we’re looking for
Schroders are looking for an experienced Principal Business Analyst to work on a variety of innovative platforms and products within the Investment Technology Product Team. Working collaboratively with Investment Technology Teams and the Investor / Analyst end business users, you will ensure that business needs are understood, documented and addressed throughout the delivery cycle.

The team
Investment Technology support a number of Front Office businesses in building out and maintaining an innovative set of applications in support of alpha and outcome generation. These include solutions for investment strategy creation, complex modelling, portfolio construction, investment risk calculation, quantitative and systematic investing and trading.
You’ll work with a group of enthusiastic people who are passionate about software in a financial context and evolving our investment platform. They’re also keen on driving positive technology change at Schroders, ensuring that we always stay ahead of the curve.
What you’ll do
- Apply business analysis tools to capture the business context for the technology product, the scope of the work and the target state value proposition;
- Deploy a range of analysis techniques to solve problems which arise throughout the discovery and delivery cycles including: data analysis, data modelling, qualitative analysis, process mapping, architectural analysis and solution proposal documents;
- Work with business stakeholders and the wider Product Team to help define required outcomes for technology products;
- Become an expert in the technology solutions delivered;
- Facilitate information sharing between business stakeholders / engineering / UX / delivery, through artefact creation and running workshops / deep dive discussions;
- Assist in developing, refining, and prioritising the backlog, at an epic and user story level;
- Contribute to the sprint backlog when clarity is required from the delivery team;
- Accept completed epics and user stories according to the team definition of “done” and Schroders quality standards and policies;
- Ensure proposed solutions align to Enterprise Architecture and strategic design principles;
- Ensure adherence to a change delivery lifecycle including design stage gates;
- Carry out system configuration, testing and training;
- Support go live activities of the delivery team, including test writing and RAID log clearance.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Proven track record of using analysis techniques to understand business problems and propose solutions;
- Experienced at communicating with and managing a range of stakeholders;
- Experience of working in a variety of agile ways;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
- Ability to use data, qualitative and quantitative, in analysis.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
- Understanding of modern software architecture;
- Knowledge of UK and international Financial Business models;
- Certified BSC or similar accredited analysis discipline training.
