A defence solutions provider is seeking a Training Operator to support the UK military in its use of training simulators. The Training Operator must have excellent understanding of British military doctrine, structure, and tactics. In addition, the Training Operator will have good communication, instruction, IT, problem solving, and teamwork skills. There are opportunities for both full time permanent and contract positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support military personnel by configuring simulation exercises, overseeing and maintaining the simulation, and operating other elements of the simulation
  • Set up tactical challenges to exercising troops
  • Carry out simulator training of military users
  • Carry out the role of troubleshooter and perform pre-use simulator checks, carry out low level fault diagnosis, perform low level maintenance procedures, and assist maintainers as required
  • Conduct twin site exercises with partnered sites
  • Carry out testing of military simulation systems which includes Regression testing and PTR testing
  • Enter faults and observations using in-house methods
  • Assist the military and LM during visits

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Have a strong understanding of British military doctrine, tactics, equipment, structure
  • Have a good understanding of other military doctrines, equipment, tactics and structure suited
  • Has good instruction and communication skills to teach users on equipment/technology
  • Have good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Is a problem solver and is able to adapt quickly to new tasks at short notice
  • Be able to work alone unsupervised and within a team environment
  • Is able to learn new updates on technology and military information quickly

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 DOE

Benefits: Training, Private medical (covers family), Life Assurance, 25 days hols, Pension (4%)
