Are you an exceptional fundraiser who believes in the power of democracy, national security, and Western values to shape a freer world? The Henry Jackson Society (HJS)—one of the UK’s most prominent cross-party think tanks—is seeking a Director of Development to lead its major donor fundraising efforts at a pivotal moment of global instability and domestic political change.
About HJS: Based in Westminster, the Henry Jackson Society champions robust defence, freedom, and human rights through rigorous research and fearless public advocacy. With influential publications, high-profile events, and strong ties to government and media, HJS is a thought leader on geopolitics, extremism, authoritarian regimes, and Britain’s place in the world.
About the Role: We are looking for a high-energy, politically aligned development professional to:
- Lead HJS’s strategy to grow unrestricted income from major donors, family offices, and key philanthropists
- Personally cultivate and steward a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals who believe in defending Western democratic values
- Evangelise HJS’s mission with confidence, credibility, and conviction
- Act as a senior ambassador for the Society, representing it with influence and gravitas at private briefings and public events
- Build the internal fundraising infrastructure for long-term sustainability (this role is about major giving – not grant writing)
What We’re Looking For:
- A seasoned relationship fundraiser with a strong track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts
- A natural communicator with high emotional intelligence and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
- A personal resonance with HJS’s mission and values – this is essential
- A self-starter who thrives in an intellectually charged, fast-moving policy environment
Location: Central London
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Impact: Strategic, visible, and global – you’ll be shaping the future of UK foreign policy and democratic leadership.
This is more than a fundraising role – it’s a call to stand up for the values that matter. If that sounds like you, apply now or reach out confidentially for more information.
