You\’ll be joining a high-performing commercial team of nine surveyors at various levels, meaning plenty of collaboration, learning opportunities, and mentorship from experienced senior team members. The Role
As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and management of all technical aspects throughout the project lifecycle, from land acquisition to project completion. You’ll work across developments ranging from 50 to 400+ units, featuring a mix of traditional masonry construction and modern timber frame methods.
This role requires a strong understanding of technical design, planning conditions, regulatory compliance, and construction methodologies. You will liaise closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and site teams to ensure technical challenges are resolved efficiently and projects are delivered smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Technical Coordination: Overseeing the production and management of working drawings, site layouts, and services coordination
✅ Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring designs meet NHBC/LABC standards, Building Regulations (Part M, L, F, etc.), and Planning Conditions
✅ Design Management: Working with external consultants on drainage strategies, foundation designs, and sectional agreements (S38, S104, S278)
✅ Planning & Approvals: Managing discharge of planning conditions and ensuring projects align with Section 106 and CIL requirements
✅ Value Engineering: Identifying cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
✅ Risk Management: Proactively resolving site constraints, buildability issues, and technical queries
✅ Stakeholder Liaison: Working closely with land, commercial, construction, and sales teams to ensure seamless project delivery

Who We’re Looking For
✔ Experience: Previous experience as a Technical Manager, Senior Technical Coordinator, or Design Manager within a housebuilder or residential developer
✔ Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building regulations, NHBC standards, drainage and utility coordination, foundation design, and construction detailing
✔ Software Proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks, or other design coordination tools is advantageous
✔ Industry Experience: Ideally from a housebuilder, residential developer, or consultancy background with experience in both low-rise and mid-rise schemes
✔ Mindset: A proactive problem-solver with a strong eye for detail, efficiency, and quality control
