Highways and Streetworks Inspector – Huntingdon

Your new role:
The Works Inspector is tasked with performing site inspections and reports directly to the Senior Quality Works Inspector. Their role is to ensure that both management and the client are confident in the delivery team’s and supply chain’s adherence to the specified standards and design requirements. Initially, they will provide on-site coaching and training to the Delivery Team to help them understand the required standards. Subsequently, they will perform inspections of the works. This role involves working within a specific project area and offering support across various disciplines.
- Be proactive in preventing substandard work being produced by coaching and providing training, where applicable, for the delivery and the supply chain.
- Ensure that all quality documentation is in place and prestart checks have been carried out prior to the commencement of the work.
- Monitor the quality of materials via goods inward inspections.
- Check the works during progress and on completion, to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the specification and relevant design.
- Ensure that inspections and tests are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans and the Safe System of Work (for controlling the works), and that all necessary documentation is produced in a timely manner.
- Where works do not comply with the requirements, ensure that Non-conformance Reports are produced, preventive action taken and that they are closed in a timely manner.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
- Highways Experience.
- E xperience of onsite inspections against an approved Detail Design and the generation of applicable assurance records.
- Relevant CSCS Card and Highways Passport.
- Relevant site supervisory or site engineering experience on civil engineering projects, preferably major highway schemes. Or Quality/ Works Inspector experience from a previous civil engineering project.
