Elevation Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a leading manufacturing business to recruit an Automation & Control Engineer for their flagship site in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of industrial control systems (ICS) across a complex and high-performing site. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining, optimising and upgrading control systems to drive reliability, reduce downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all ICS-related activity onsite – including PLC, SCADA, HMIs and electrical control systems
- Troubleshoot, program and optimise systems (Siemens and Allen-Bradley platforms)
- Manage ICS vendor contracts, service agreements and performance
- Maintain accurate documentation, backups, PPM systems and electrical schematics
- Proactively identify obsolescence risks and drive upgrades or replacements
- Support CI and engineering projects to improve plant performance
About You
- Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent with 5+ years’ relevant experience in automation or maintenance
- Strong PLC programming knowledge – Siemens and Allen-Bradley
- Familiarity with SCADA systems (Ignition, InTouch)
- Confident in electrical fault finding, schematics, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus)
- Exposure to COMAH, ATEX/DSEAR or PSM environments is advantageous
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or other CI methodologies is a plus
