Main Purpose of the Role;
To oversee and multiple capital projects aimed at enhancing operational performance across the business. The Project Manager will lead the management of capital projects focused primarily on improving manufacturing process efficiency and reducing costs. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the roleholder will work cross-fucntionally with various departments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the desired performance outcomes. The role is focused on managing projects from a strategic and operational perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage capital projects (up to £1.5m) aimed at improving operational performance, with a focus on manufacturing process efficiency and cost reduction.
- Develop detailed project plans, clearly defining project scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including operations, engineering, procurement, finance, and technical teams) to ensure projects are completed successfully.
- Monitor and report on project progress, providing weekly updates and period-based reports to SLT and key stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, including supplier delays and operational issues, ensuring that potential roadblocks are identified early and mitigated.
- Ensure projects meet established performance measures, particularly being delivered on time and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Continuously assess and improve project management processes and practices to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in project management, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment, with a focus on operational improvements.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2, etc.) and tools.
- Experience managing capital projects with budgets of up to £1.5m and durations ranging from 4 to 8 months.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams from different departments to drive project success.
- Some relevant technical knowledge or experience in manufacturing processes is preferred, but not essential.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, resolve supplier-related issues, and maintain project timelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide regular project updates to senior stakeholders.
