Senior Optical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer required for a manufacturer of precise optical equipment used in the industrial sector. The Senior Optical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer will be responsible for developing new concepts to support the prototyping of new products. You will work alongside colleagues and suppliers to produce new optical prototypes based on your own designs. The Senior Optical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer will live within a commutable distance from the main manufacturing site near Guildford, Surrey. For this role you will have a strong understanding of optical manufacturing and ideally be qualified in Physics, Optical Science, Imaging or Mechanical Engineering. Package: Base salary up to £60,000 depending on experience Generous Bonus 24 days holiday + bank holidays Private medical insurance Life insurance Sick pay Excellent progression opportunities On site role based near Guildford, Surrey Responsibilities: Develop new concepts to support the prototyping of new optical products Work alongside colleagues and suppliers to produce new optical prototypes based on your own designs. You will create brand new designs and generate tolerance optical drawings Perform in depth research on the latest optical technology and applications Observe all design processes which include ISO9001: 2008, iso 2001: 2015 and ISO 13485 Perform computer modelling of new optical concepts Report to the Research Design Manager On site role based near Guildford, SurreyRequirements: Prior experience as a Senior Optical Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer / Research Engineer or similar Strong knowledge of Optical manufacturing Knowledgeable of design systems which include Zemax, 3D CAD systems or PTC Creo Hold a relevant qualification in Physics, Optical Science, Imaging or Mechanical Engineering Commutable to the main manufacturing site based near Guildford, Surrey
