About the Role
The Project Manager (PM1) will work within Akkodis’s Aerospace & Defence business unit, supporting Software and engineering projects. The role involves managing small-to-medium-sized projects and supporting senior project management on larger initiatives. The successful candidate will be based in Stevenage or the surrounding area and will be required to travel locally to meet with clients. This is a client-facing role with a minimum of three days in the office to ensure robust stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects across their lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Manage & control the project costs & financial performance, including approval of Timesheet.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to align project goals and address concerns proactively.
- Conduct root cause analysis for issues and propose corrective actions.
- Oversee project scope, risks, and changes, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Prepare and present status reports to clients and internal leadership.
- Promote best practices in project management and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in project management, project support, or project coordination.
- Proven experience managing projects in aerospace, defence, in Engineering or Software environments.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Client-facing experience with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to stay calm under pressure and manage negative feedback constructively.
Required Skills

- Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
- Ability to work independently with some oversight.
- Root cause analysis and continuous improvement mindset.
