Overview
The role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our Transport team. You\’ll be at the heart of ensuring our fleet runs efficiently, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with safety and customer requirements. From route optimisation to cost control and driver liaison, you\’ll help keep our operation moving.
Hours: Full-time, 50 hours per week
Salary: £30 000-£32 000
Key responsibilities
- Design and optimise transport routes using route planning software.
- Monitor real-time data to adapt and improve plans.
- Manage transport costs by improving efficiency and resource use.
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, safety standards, and ADR requirements.
- Analyse route performance and prepare performance and cost-saving reports.
- Collaborate with drivers, first line managers, and other teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Keep up to date with the latest transport technology and implement improvements.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years\’ experience in route planning within a busy transport environment.
- Proficient in transport management systems (TMS) such as Sterling, ESP, or Qargo.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve logistical challenges.
- Confident communicator, able to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
