Case Manager Genealogy, Edinburgh City Centre, Scotland

Case Manager – Geneology required to work within the Private Client Department of one of the UK s leading Genealogists. They are looking for experienced case managers and researchers who are conversant in Scottish law and Scottish genealogical research practices to work from their office in Edinburgh.

About: Established in 2001, our client works with both private clients and the public sector to locate missing Next of Kin and beneficiaries to an estate. They are now one of the UK s largest Genealogists/Heir Hunter firms and due to substantial organic growth, they are looking to recruit a Regional Case Manager.

As a Regional Case Manager and Researcher, you will be paramount to the ongoing success of our business. You will manage your own caseload whereby you will utilise a variety of methods and tools available to you to locate beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travelling to record centres around Scotland to complete detailed family tree research
  • Research genealogy in accordance with the training provided and the client s instructions, using all authorised resources including external research from approved databases
  • Recording research findings in the correct family tree format
  • Ordering birth, death, and marriage certificates as well as other relevant reference documents for research purposes
  • Taking and making calls to beneficiaries / family members to confirm research, or rule out leads
  • Ensuring the in-house Case Management system is kept up to date with case progression
  • Answering all correspondence via phone, email, or letter from clients &/or potential beneficiaries within a timely manner
  • Preparing interim and final reports, including the family tree, letters, family history reports and mailing lists
  • Accurately write reports for solicitors in the prescribed format
  • General admin duties
  • Working to deadlines prioritising workload accordingly

The Ideal Candidate:

You will have experience of working within Wills & Probate or within a wider Private Client law setting and you will have:

  • Experience of completing research of Scottish genealogy records and ideally the laws around intestacy and testacy in Scotland.
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Ability to retain and recall vast amounts of information
  • Impeccable organisation skills
  • Adaptable communication skills
  • Capability to convert research into clear, formatted reports
  • An active interest in genealogy
  • A full clean driving licence

You will also possess an exemplary sickness & punctuality record and will be a proven team player.
