At CrossReach, we’ve been supporting people across Scotland for over 150 years and we’re looking for qualified and compassionate counsellors to join our team and help make a lasting difference. Whether working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, those navigating grief and loss, or people living with trauma, this role offers the opportunity to provide life-changing support in a safe, confidential and person-centred environment.
We have an opportunity for counsellors to join CrossReach Counselling & Recovery Service, based in Edinburgh. As a counsellor with CrossReach, you will deliver professional and ethical counselling sessions, working either one-to-one or with groups depending on the needs of the service. You’ll maintain clear and accurate records, contribute to service development, and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to ensure every client receives the best possible care.
At CrossReach we understand the importance of work-life balance and have various working patterns and hours available to suit your needs and those of the service. These are temporary positions initially; however, depending upon funding, these may go permanent in time.
To succeed in this role, you’ll hold a recognised counselling qualification (minimum diploma level) and be registered with a relevant professional body such as BACP, COSCA or UKCP. You’ll bring experience of working with a variety of client issues, including substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma or relationship challenges as well as excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and a strong commitment to dignity, inclusion and respect.
In return, you’ll find yourself part of a supportive, values-driven organisation and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.
If you’re ready to use your skills to support others and grow in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that supports others:
- Access to a wide range of exclusive retail and leisure discounts through our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card.
- A generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit.
- Enhanced family friendly policies.
- Access to our health cash plan, giving you cash back for a wide range of health treatments.
- Access to a care concierge service to assist you with life’s challenges.
- Contribution to your professional membership fees.
CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
We are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our success. We aim to create an inclusive and inspiring environment where individuals feel valued and respected and where people can belong, thrive and be their very best, whoever they are.
