Advertisement Details

The main purpose of the Community Equipment Store Technician role is to support the logistics of providing medical and disability equipment across the Shetland Islands. This will include selection of appropriate equipment to meet identified need, delivery and installation, ensuring the equipment is suitable based on skilled observation of the environment and recipient. Also, to maintain and repair a wide range of equipment to maximise stock availability, as well as collection, cleaning and recycling of equipment upon its return to the service, ensuring all infection control policies are applied, and COSHH guidelines adhered to.

There will be regular and substantial contact with service users, families and carers in their own home (or in local care homes) who will have varying degrees of need and understanding. This will include people who have palliative care needs, learning disabilities, dementia and physical restrictions, and the post holder will have to be sensitive to these issues and adapt their interactions accordingly.

  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4202 per hour
  • Permanent Part Time post for 35.0 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
