A major UK & International freight forwarding organisation is looking for a Customs Clearance Operator for their Import road freight customs clearance team.
A minimum of two years ROAD FREIGHT customs entries experience is required. Ideally, candidates should have experience submitting import declarations via ASM Sequoia or similar.
ROLE: Customs clearance
LOCATION: Essec
HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
SALARY: £30k to £35k
Suitable candidates should be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be keen to learn in what is a very new and expansive area of customs brokerage. Candidates must have customs experience in the road freight sector. Successful candidates will be fully trained and supported but may be asked to work independently at times; a keen sense of how to prioritise workload will be needed.
Purpose of the role: Responsible for the submission of import entries on behalf of internal road freight branches and outside customer base in a timely and compliant manner.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Submit import declarations via ASM Sequoia to a variety of CPCs.
- Liaise with relevant HMRC departments to resolve any holds or queries.
- Support and contribute to departments monthly P&L report.
- Post entry checks and if necessary, reclaims and amendments to appropriate HMRC departments.
- Take reasonable care of your own and other people's Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Report any potential hazards in your working environment to your line manager.
- Any additional duties as reasonably requested by your manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Recent experience of working in a customs brokerage environment, including entry submission to CDS/Chief via ASM Sequoia or a similar software provider.
- Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff for a diverse range of product types.
- Understanding of various customs procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of port community systems such as CNS/Destin8.
- Intermediate computer literacy and knowledge of software, such as Word and Excel.
- A keen eye for detail.
