The Role
Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Innovation, the Electrical Design Manager will lead a small team of Electrical Engineers and Hardware Design Engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical design work packages on time and within budget. This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone passionate about technical excellence and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of Electrical and Hardware Design Engineers.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Applications teams to refine estimation norms and provide pre-sale technical support.
- Work with Project Managers to create robust delivery plans for electrical engineering work packages.
- Optimise resource allocation and utilisation to meet project demands.
- Develop and enhance electrical design processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to support peak workloads.
- Establish and improve internal standards, templates, and best practices for maximum efficiency.
- Align processes with Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Recruit, train, and develop top-tier talent to meet growing business needs.
- Monitor team output, audit work quality, and ensure a “right-first-time” approach.
- Provide technical leadership, embrace innovation, and ensure compliance with customer specifications and regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum BEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- At least 7 years’ experience in a technical delivery or management role.
- Subject Matter Expert in electrical control systems.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a proactive, organised approach.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on attitude.
- Adaptable, enthusiastic, and reliable with a collaborative spirit.
