Role Overview
As an MEP Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems on large-scale projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and commercial awareness to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction & Procurement
- Support the development and execution of the Building Services Strategy Plan to align with business objectives.
- Assist in managing the MEP technical and commercial aspects of project bids, ensuring compliance with Pre-Construction Manual Procedures.
- Provide guidance on tendering and awarding MEP packages, ensuring alignment with contract procurement strategies.
Project Execution & Delivery
- Take overall responsibility for MEP project delivery, providing leadership, motivation, and technical oversight.
- Ensure temporary electrical requirements are assessed and implemented per company guidelines.
- Support resource planning for key building services personnel to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee the coordination and approval of builders’ works drawings to meet project timelines.
- Manage the tracking of equipment and plant from approval through procurement, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), delivery, and quality inspections.
- Ensure MEP teams implement quality management systems (QMS), snagging procedures, and progressive inspections for final project sign-off.
- Oversee the development and execution of site-specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), commissioning strategies, and handover plans in collaboration with MEP contractors.
Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing large-scale and complex MEP projects.
- Strong understanding of the MEP supply chain market and industry dynamics.
- Proven experience in all project phases, including estimating, pre-construction, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Ability to demonstrate technical, commercial, and leadership skills to deliver multiple MEP projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health & safety policies, including live energy practices.
- Commitment to implementing quality assurance systems (QMS), ITPs, and commissioning plans.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or MEP-related disciplines.
- Membership in a professional institution such as CIBSE, CIOB, or IEI (or equivalent).
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety Management training.
- Additional certifications in Project Management, Planning & Programming, and Live Energies/Arc Flash Training are advantageous.
