Senior Software Engineer Well-Funded AI Startup

• At Emergent we’re building AI agents for influencer marketing.
• Influencer marketing is a powerful channel for advertisers, but it is incredibly inefficient, requiring hundreds of emails and many weeks for every piece of content. We’re building an AI agent to automate this process. We compete with influencer marketing agencies and we sell campaigns to advertisers, we don’t sell software.
• The opportunity here is to make an inefficient market hugely more efficient. This allows us to add and capture tremendous value, and to significantly expand the market to more advertisers and creators

The role

• We’re hiring founding software engineers to join us on this journey.
• You’ll play a crucial role shaping both the product and the business. You’ll have opportunities to work on a wide variety of problems, to grow at lightning speed, and to develop the skills you need to start your own startup in future.
• Our stack is a Ruby on Rails monolith deployed on Render, but we aren’t requiring Ruby experience. We use a variety of ML models and frameworks to build and eval our agents.
• We’re paying top-of-market salaries, with performance-based bonuses and generous equity.

What are we looking for?

• 4+ years of full stack engineering experience
• Kindness, optimism, a growth mindset, and great communication skills
• Enthusiasm to shape an early stage product and business. You’ll be one of our earliest employees, you’ll wear many hats, and you’ll have a huge impact on the product
• Ability to be self-directed and thrive in an early-stage environment that is fast paced and ambiguous
• Deep user empathy. You’ll be talking with customers and empowered to make product decisions, not just writing code
• Interest in AI. You don’t need an ML PhD, but we are building AI agents, so enthusiasm about the space is a must!

Who are we?

• We’re an early-stage startup based in-person in London.
• Our founder, Henry, spent 6 years at YouTube as Lead Product Manager for influencer marketing, where he gained deep domain expertise. At YouTube he built four zero-to-one monetization products from launch to $750M ARR. He founded a nonprofit for Long Covid medical research that raised $17M, he has a computer science degree from UCL, and he holds 4 patents in AI and abuse monitoring.
• We raised $3.5M from amazing investors including Google Ventures, Tomasz Tunguz at Theory Ventures, and unicorn startup founders in summer 2023. We have the majority of this funding remaining.
• We pivoted to influencer marketing due to the size of the opportunity. We previously built an LLM analytics product, Context.ai
