Pertemps are recruiting for a Test Baker for a food manufacturing company based in Corby, Northamptonshire. This is an opportunity not to be missed. You will join a fantastic, long-established company who offer very competitive benefits.
Carry out accurate and reproducible test bakes (Measure and cook ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make products)
Test ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets safety and quality controls.
Analysing test bakes, writing reports, and feeding back findings, written documentation of all stages
Support complaints/failures investigations as required carrying out bake on finished goods, presenting back findings and next steps to line manager/ internal customers via email and on Teams calls/in person
To communicate findings in a quick and effective manner
Reporting maintenance issues to the Manager, working with the maintenance team to provide a solution as appropriate.
Record and monitor cleaning and temperature records in accordance with legislation and internal policy.
Take necessary action to prevent/ issues from arising from test results.
Working towards learning ingredient functionality and owning projects with an overall aptitude for learning with the aim to be a subject expert for bakery ingredient & formulation
Building upon knowledge of scientific bakery technology
Going above and beyond day-to-day tasks by taking initiative and being proactive
When developments are ready for set up, working cross-functionally to push these through within business and customer time frames
Upholding the company’s strong health and safety culture including safe material procedures and wearing appropriate PPE
To report any non-conformances in a timely fashion, advising the appropriate personnel of any discrepancies and carrying out an RCA
To liaise with production / customer services ensuring that the results of tested products are communicated quickly and clearly
Sets time and speed controls for mixing machines, or blending machines, so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.
