Summary of Role:
- Be the lead engineering representative on the project and the main point of contact for all engineering matters on a project.
- Responsible for engineering delivery in terms of quality, compliance, meeting requirements, safety, value for money and schedule.
- Be the senior manager on the project for all engineering resource.
- Generate, validate and maintain a complete list of engineering, design, validation and verification and handover deliverables and ensure these are delivered in accordance with the programme requirements.
- Ensure that the Engineering Requirements are suitable & appropriate
- Recommend the budget and programme, to the Project Manager, to deliver design
- Assess the suitability of engineering design resources (both internal and external) to execute facility design.
- Ensure adequate competency and competency records.
- Lead, drive, communicate and deliver designs, with due regard to safety, quality, schedule, cost effectiveness and lifetime value for money.
- Maintain oversight of the design as it develops via routine reviews.
- Deliver design solutions that meet business needs, functional performance, through life performance and is licensable and deliverable.
- Manage the Design Intent and Design Information Configuration from inception through to project handover.
- Provide functional support in identifying and implementing change, development and improvement.
- The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
Essential Requirements:
- HNC/D.
- Formal Project Management/Delivery qualifications (e.g. MAPM). Skills
- Delivery of cross-discipline Design packages in a multi-discipline environment.
- Design information configuration control for the life of a project
- Ability to write technical specifications and briefs.
- Multi-disciplinary Design leadership, both technically and performance.
- Some areas require experience of delivering projects in high hazard environments (For example: flammable/explosive/radioactive)
- Skilled in leading and developing people and conducting performance and development reviews
- Experience of managing both external suppliers and in-house teams to deliver Project design packages
- Experience of all aspects of the project life-cycle:
- Establishment of requirements and problem definition.
- Developing and designing solutions
- Configuration management and application of change control
- Extensive experience of working in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear and/or explosives)
- Experience of leading multi-discipline groups in the delivery of designs across the life of an asset
- Experience of working within commercial frameworks such as New Engineering Contract
- Experience of other sub-functions i.e. design, construction, commissioning and quality control within projects.
- Able to deliver design within a Nuclear Site Licence, specifically conditions: LC19 Construction or Installation of New Plant; LC20 Modifications to Design of Plant Under Construction and/or LC 22 Modification or Experiment on Existing Plant.
- Experience in working to requirements of CDM 2015.
- Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role
- Implementation and commissioning
- Knowledge of engineered plant and systems in at least one of the following areas:
- Production/Process plant and equipment
- Building Services
- Utilities distribution and engineering Experience of HAZOP process.
Desirable Requirements:
- Membership of an Engineering Institute, at minimum level of I Eng. (or equivalent).
- Engineering Degree (Hons).
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent).
