The trustees at Citizens Advice Barrow are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the charity into the future.
As a part of the national Citizens Advice network, Citizens Advice Barrow exists to provide advice to people to allow them to address the problems they are facing, improve their financial resilience and find a way forward.
Our team of 9 paid staff and two volunteers support over 2,500 clients annually with many different and complex problems including financial crisis, debt, benefits, housing, employment and family issues.
The Citizens Advice Barrow service provides a high quality service which is overseen by our national charity. It holds the Advice Quality Standard and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The quality of our service is very important to us, and the successful candidate will uphold the high standards of Citizens Advice to make sure that residents are supported appropriately.
We are looking for an ambitious, strategic candidate who can raise significant funds over the coming months and years to sustain and grow our service in the Barrow area, which has high levels of deprivation. The successful candidate will have a commitment to social justice and partnership working, and will uphold the principles of The Barrow Way. (see The Barrow Way )
Our Chief Executive Officer will support and mentor both paid staff and volunteers to get the best out of our talented team, and will develop our organisation so that it improves continually, striving to provide an outstanding, empathetic and appropriate advice service from our building on Abbey Road.
They will also ensure that the service is appropriate for the changing needs of residents and that the service responds to the community in which it is set. They will work positively and proactively with other Citizens Advice offices in Cumbria, playing a part in the Citizens Advice Cumbria group and develop and co-produce work where appropriate with other offices.
They will develop strong and effective relationships with both other offices and staff at our national charity to ensure that Citizens Advice Barrow is taking advantage of our Membership of the Citizens Advice network and all it has to offer.
