In this role, you will perform investigations of alleged fraud or deviations from Bechtel’s standards of conduct. You will analyse documents and witness testimony, conduct interviews, assist in handling allegations, and write report summaries. You will support managers with expertise and training to help ensure compliance with Bechtel’s Code of Conduct, policies, management instructions, and procedures.
Will report to the Chief Investigator of Ethics and Compliance who is based in the USA.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conducts investigations of alleged fraud or deviations from Bechtel’s standards of conduct.
- Analyses documents and witness testimony to determine the degree of compliance with controls as set forth in Bechtel’s Code of Conduct, policies, management instructions and procedures.
- Interviews individuals with information related to the alleged fraud or ethics violations.
- Receives, records, and assists in handling allegations as required.
- Writes a report of investigation summarizing the results of the fraud, ethics violation or special investigation.
- Ensures that members of the investigation team and others assisting in investigations are properly trained by scheduling and presenting training programs relating to investigation procedures.
- Monitors the Bechtel Ethics Helpline and coordinates responses and actions with Legal, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs as appropriate.
- Schedules and presents training programs within Ethics and Compliance and supports Functions and Services on investigation procedures and techniques.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and extensive relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong experience in corporate environment and investigations.
- Demonstrated responsibility while working independently.
- Strong analytical skills, decision making, problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a large and complex case load with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated abilities in time management and establishing priorities.
- Ability to organize data and write concise investigative reports.
- Working knowledge of criminal and civil justice systems.
- Ability to use various computer systems including Word, Excel, Outlook, and various database search systems.
- Must possess a valid passport.
- Willingness to travel on short notice, possibly including overnight stays for extended periods of time.
- Must be comfortable working with all levels of employee base, including interviewing senior executives on sensitive issues.
- Must be highly credible and not afraid to express opinions.
