They are renowned in the market as a specialist civil, building, mechanical and electrical renewals and maintenance business that has ongoing and successful projects and frameworks across the country. They have a multi-disciplinary approach that makes them one of the chosen long-term partners for many of the UK’s leading rail businesses., They are looking for a Design Coordinator that has a background within a rail contracting environment, particularly in civil engineering to join there Cumbernauld office. They will offer the opportunity to advance your professional development while contributing to a variety of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects., * Coordinating and managing designers that will ensure schemes are delivered effectively within rail and infrastructure projects.

  • Working closely with the Engineering Manager and work in partnership with stakeholders ensuring successful project execution.

  • Monitoring and overseeing designs progress against schedule and budgets and implementing corrective measures should any issues be identified.

  • Reviewing, negotiating and recommending the approval/disapproval of design change orders, ensuring that they are following scope adjustments.

  • Having an established means of formal communication to provide progress reports to different teams.

  • Managing the design subcontract which includes processing monthly invoices for payments. Coordinating incentive programmes for designs.

  • Ensuring a timely and accurate submission of design documents for approval and facilitating resolutions for design issues.

  • Identification of any changes in scope and documenting necessary change orders, that includes early warning and change of instruction documentation.

  • Promoting continuous improvements and best practices in terms of design coordination.

  • Assisting in project hand back to ensure a smooth close on projects.

  • A Civil Engineering degree

  • Previous experience as a design coordinator within a civil engineering rail contracting environment

  • A strong understanding and comprehensive knowledge of the design delivery process including management of consultants.

  • Knowledge on CDM regulations and a clear understanding of designers and principle contractors roles.
