Sports Scientist - Women's Team Birmingham City

Are you a dedicated Sports Scientist eager to make a difference in women’s football? Birmingham City Women’s Football Club is looking for a skilled Sports Scientist to support our Women’s Department in capturing and interpreting performance data to enhance player development and performance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Support & Development: Assist in providing sports science and strength and conditioning for the Women’s program.
2. Data Management: Lead in capturing daily data, including testing, training, and physiological monitoring data.
3. Data Presentation: Present data to coaches and players daily, or as needed.
4. Medical Collaboration: Support the medical team with data capture and insights for return-to-play purposes.
5. Program Delivery: Aid in delivering football-specific, periodized strength and conditioning programs on and off the field.
6. Athlete Development: Design and implement structured, sequential athlete development programs across the women’s pathway.
7. Staff Development: Deliver CPD sessions to staff, sharing knowledge on data capture and analysis.
8. Player Education: Conduct workshops and 1-1 sessions to educate players on data capture and interpretation.
9. Technology Integration: Stay updated on the latest data capture software, its interpretation, and usage.
10. Best Practices: Implement athlete development guidelines in line with best practices for the Women’s Pro Game.
11. Other Duties: Perform any other duties necessary to the role.

What we’re looking for in you

Essential

1. BSc in Sports Science or related discipline
2. Postgraduate education and industry-standard professional qualification
3. Experience with team monitoring systems (GPS & Heart Rate)
4. Experience working with elite athletes
5. Attendance at UKSCA workshops and working towards full accreditation
6. FA Safeguarding Certificate

Desirable

1. MSc in Sports Science or related discipline
2. Attendance at ISAK workshops and working towards full accreditation
3. Experience working in Women’s Football
