About the Role
I am working with a college in Carlisle to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Uniformed Protective Services Lecturer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with industry experience and a passion for education to join a vibrant team and help shape the futures of students aspiring to careers in the police, fire, armed forces, and other uniformed services.
As a Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across a range of levels, contribute to curriculum development, and provide pastoral and academic support as a course or group tutor.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess teaching and learning on a variety of Uniformed Protective Services programmes
- Monitor and support the academic progress and welfare of students
- Undertake administrative duties related to teaching responsibilities
- Support student recruitment, enrolment, and induction
- Contribute to the development of new curriculum content and course structures
- Maintain accurate student records and contribute to internal and external quality assurance processes
- Liaise with external partners and employers to enhance the student learning experience
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults
- Participate in ongoing professional development (minimum 30 hours per year)
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A degree in a relevant subject
- Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
- Industry experience in a uniformed service or a related field
- A commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) or willingness to gain within an agreed timescale
- Experience teaching or training in Further Education
- Familiarity with FE sector standards and quality frameworks
