Construction Senior Associate (Contracts & Projects) | International Law Firm | City of London
A highly regarded international law firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Construction Contracts and Projects team in London to work on high-profile, innovative infrastructure and development projects across the UK and globally.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and commercially astute lawyer to take a leading role in complex, big-ticket projects, advising clients from inception through to delivery.
The Opportunity:
This is a purely non-contentious construction role, ideal for a senior lawyer seeking to focus on drafting, negotiating and advising on major infrastructure and construction agreements. The team is consistently instructed on some of the most significant and complex projects in the UK and internationally, spanning sectors such as energy, transport, real estate development, and social infrastructure.
You\’ll be working with an impressive range of clients including developers, contractors, employers, operators, investors and insurers, and advising on:
– Construction procurement strategies
– Building contracts and consultants\’ appointments
– Collateral warranties and third-party rights
– Security documentation
– Joint venture agreements
– PFI and PPP documentation
– Alliance and partnering agreements
This role offers real scope for client interaction, leadership on matters, and involvement in strategic business development.
Candidate Requirements:
– UK-qualified solicitor with 7+ years\’ post-qualification experience in construction law
– Strong background in private practice or in-house legal teams, ideally within the construction or infrastructure space
– Experience drafting and negotiating standard and bespoke forms of construction and engineering contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC, FIDIC)
– International project experience is advantageous but not essential
– Excellent commercial awareness and client-handling skills
– Ideally, a network of contacts within the construction sector that could be developed further
