About The Job

Luton Governor Services are looking for individuals to become school governors. You would be part of a friendly and supportive team of governors who contribute greatly to the continued success of each school.

Governors are people like you – you do not need to be a parent, but you must be over 18 and have a passion about improving the standard of education for all pupils in Luton schools. Any additional skills you have in either your work or family life are a bonus.

This is a voluntary role and you will receive full training and support throughout – meetings are generally held in the evenings and are a mixture of face‑to‑face and online.

School Governors work together to carry out their core functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
  • Holding executive leaders accountable for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and for the performance management of staff.
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

Governors must also ensure the governing body complies with all legal and statutory requirements.
