Our client is seeking a dynamic professional to join a growing infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, particularly within the Aviation or Highways sectors, while making a significant impact on the success of our clients’ projects.

As a Principal Civil/Highway Engineer, you’ll lead technical design and project coordination for infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency in every stage of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leading the production of 3D models using Civil 3D modelling software.
  2. Generating detailed drawings from the 3D model to meet project specifications.
  3. Coordinating the technical output of the team, ensuring designs meet relevant industry standards, legislation, and client requirements.
  4. Reviewing design calculations and validating the basis of design assumptions.
  5. Acting as the technical reference for the team, providing expert guidance and support.
  6. Ensuring that junior team members maintain high design standards and quality outputs.
  7. Reviewing and commenting on designs from consultants and contractors.
  8. Ensuring compliance with BIM protocols and office drawing standards.
  9. Supporting the Director in preparing tender documents, scope of services, and fee proposals.
  10. Attending client meetings, site inspections, and project discussions.

About You

  1. A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Level 6 qualification and, ideally, be Chartered or Incorporated with a professional body.
  2. Proficiency in creating Civil 3D models and extracting sections and quantities from them.
  3. Experience in Aviation and/or Highways sectors, with a solid understanding of industry design guides.
  4. Strong knowledge of relevant design software and technical standards.
  5. In-depth understanding of relevant legislation and industry standards.
  6. Experience in modelling, project management, and the management of design processes.
  7. Proven ability to lead and mentor junior members of the design team.
  8. Commercial awareness and an ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
