Job Title: Insurance Officer (Apprenticeship)
Salary Range: £24,684 – £33,316 (with potential to £38,566 after successful completion of apprenticeship and work experience)
Permanent Full-Time (36 hours)

About the role:
You will require a confident telephone manner and the ability to input concise and accurate notes onto our claims management system (LACHS), enabling colleagues and supervisors to readily understand the current status of the claim.
You will need to have an analytical mind and the ability to objectively evaluate data presented to determine how best to progress claims or produce summary reports to meet service delivery standards.
You will be one of four insurance officers who deliver this service for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils within a supportive managed environment.
Objective of role:
You will be expected to administer a diverse range of claims made against London Councils, progressing claims within clearly defined timescales (e.g., processing new claims within 24 hours of receipt). As an apprentice, you will have an average active case load of 50, which will rise to an average of 150 as an experienced insurance officer.
You will be responsible for responding to general queries via telephone or in writing on a daily basis.
You will need to have an eye for detail and the ability to self-manage competing priorities daily. You will be required to work independently and collaboratively with the team, with the ability to flex your working hours during periods of high service demand.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- A desire to commence a career in insurance (at an apprentice level), or a detailed understanding of the principles of insurance as one of the measures used to protect the public purse (for an experienced Insurance Officer).
- Good analytical and IT skills, preferably Microsoft Office, with experience of using spreadsheets and document writing software.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deal with sensitive information addressing the needs across a diverse range of people.
- Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to providing a high level of customer care to all insurance claimants and internal customers.
- GCSE level or equivalent qualifications including as a minimum English Language and Mathematics at Grade 4 or above.
