Product Liability Risk Consultant – Life Sciences
Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share and full-time basis
Salary: £75,000-£100,000 based on experience, plus fully-expensed business need car, plus allowances and generous benefits package
Location: Home based – Europe and global travel required based on customer requirement

The opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Zurich Resilience Solutions Casualty and Business Resilience Team as an Expert Product Liability Risk Consultant. It is an ideal role for a liability risk professional with a broad range of experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge. In this role the successful candidate will enjoy a varied, challenging and rewarding diet of work, a great deal of autonomy and they will benefit from working with an experienced and high performing team, utilising cutting edge Risk Engineering technology.
What will you be doing?
- The delivery of Product Liability focused risk consultancy to both Zurich insured, and non-Zurich insured customers.
- Development of our risk consultancy business and customer proposition.
- Commercial acumen, business development skills and an ability to spot opportunities to support our customers and the development of business opportunities in relation to the growth of fee income.
- Marketing (both internally and externally) of our risk management advice through events, social media campaigns and other industry events.
- Develop and manage the relationships and risk profile improvement for a significant portfolio of clients in the food and beverage industry.
- Autonomously deliver a range of product liability underwriter assurance activities.
- Produce high quality professional reports, providing best practice advice to customers and underwriters.
- Thought leadership and research into technical areas to be shared with colleagues, other stakeholders, and clients.
- To support and enhance our Group Underwriting and customer propositions.
What are we looking for?
- Professional affiliations with evidence of thought leadership.
- Extensive experience in the life sciences industry.
- Knowledge of current and emerging product liability related risks and knowledge of relevant legislation.
- A track record of success in product liability risk management, and/or product quality control.
- Business development skills and commercial acumen.
- Awareness of the principles and practices of the insurance industry, relevant to the role.
- An expert knowledge of how product liability works, the types of cover likely to be in place and the way that claims will arise and be defended.
- To be familiar with related exposures and common controls, be able to analyse deficiencies and to define and clearly illustrate relevant and effective risk improvement advice.
- An enquiring mind with the ability to probe logically to establish the key exposures, common controls and analyse deficiencies with an ability to explain and articulate the business case for risk management to our customers and brokers.
- International work experience, including secondments, considered beneficial.
- Additional languages advantageous but not essential.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Bio medical or pharmacology degree or equivalent.
Desirable but not essential:
- PHD or equivalent professional qualification.
