We are seeking a highly experienced Interim Executive Director of Housing to lead and create a new housing directorate within a local authority.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this senior role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in housing management, policy development, and business transformation.
This role will be mainly on-site to start with moving to more of a hybrid arrangement.
About the Executive Director of Housing:
- Provide expert advice to the Council on all strategic housing matters.
- Lead on estate management, responsive repairs, housing delivery, business development, and private and accessible housing .
- Actively contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team , supporting leaders and policy committee chairs.
- Establish and develop a new housing directorate over a 6 to 9-month period .
- Manage and oversee individual housing managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
- Drive policy and operational improvements across the housing function.
Your previous experience as an Executive Director of Housing:
- A seasoned Director (not AD level) with extensive experience in a similar role.
- A strategic leader with local authority experience (preferred but not essential).
- Strong understanding of housing policy, governance, and service delivery within the public sector.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence senior decision-makers.
- Experience in change management and service transformation .
