The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

The ICT Technician will play a key role in the maintenance and development of ICT systems at the School. In addition to supporting the ICT Engineer in their roles, will support both teaching and administrative staff in their use of the equipment and software so that it is used efficiently and effectively. Will need to provide direct support on a one-to-one basis as well as occasional involvement in group training., Responsible for:

  • Providing support and technical assistance for all aspects of whole School Information Technology Systems.

  • Supporting CCTV systems and providing video editing services.

  • Deputising for the ICT Engineer, if required.

  • Maintaining a frontline "help desk" support system.

  • Providing ICT assistance with classroom & extra-curricular activities.

  • Maintaining whole school network systems.

  • Ensuring backup systems are run across the whole site on a daily basis.

  • Maintaining whole school e-mail and internet systems.

  • Supporting major functions out of hours, including some weekends.

  • Maintaining, configuring and updating PCs, associated equipment and software.

  • All significant issues that come to the attention of the ICT Technician must be reported the ICT Engineer and in the absence of the ICT Engineer, the Commercial Director.

  • Preparing for regular scheduled progress review meetings so that the ICT Engineer is kept well informed and this small team works efficiently.

  • Preparing AV equipment for presentations.

  • Producing system and analysis reports, as required.

  • Repairing and maintaining school ICT equipment and updating the equipment register to ensure all hardware / software is logged and up to date.

  • Maintaining a register of ICT hardware and software licensing.

  • The school provides a mobile phone for work related calls and so that support can be sought in an emergency. In practice such calls will be rare but when required, the ICT Technician will be expected to provide such assistance as is possible and reasonable at the time.

  • A self-starter but with the ability to work as part of a strong team.

  • Ability to and willingness to work at height.

  • Ability to and willingness to manually handle heavy equipment.

  • Excellent time keeping and organisational skills and the ability to cope with the varied demands of the role, prioritising and juggling lots of tasks at once.

  • Attention to detail and investigation skills.

  • A desire to take responsibility and an ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of customers (jargon free).

  • Flexibility, patience and a "can-do" attitude.

  • Practical.

  • Absolute discretion and trustworthiness.

  • A working knowledge of Windows 10 & MS Office 2016.

In a boarding school, increasing reliance on ICT may on occasions necessitate the provision of support outside of these hours hence the role cannot be viewed as a fixed hour’s role.
