Director of Finance 6-month FTC
Our client is a growing and profitable DTC brand in the luxury brand space, looking for an Interim Director of Finance to own all of finance for this £100m+ revenue business.
The successful candidate will ensure accounting records are appropriately kept and that every reported result complies with accounting standards and legislation. You will manage the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, preparing monthly management accounts and other regular financial reports.
This role requires you to ensure your finance team operates within a robust control environment and be the go-to contact for all external auditors.
As a senior finance role, you will contribute to the financial strategy of the business and drive continuous improvement. Experience in a business with product/stock and DTC metrics would be preferable.
This role will report into the COO with the Head of Commercial Finance, Accounts Payable Manager, and Group Finance Manager as direct reports.
What will I be doing?
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of management accounting, financial planning, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams.
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and accounting standards.
- Accountable for all year-end accounts for Group Companies on an individual basis and consolidation of these, including full disclosures.
- Liaising with external advisors.
- Managing the year-end process.
- Assessing the internal control environment and accounting policies, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Continually driving process improvements, with a particular focus on automation of all processes within the Finance team.
- Producing monthly group management accounts and reviews, including commentary and insights.
- Responsible for all finance systems, taking a hands-on approach to constantly challenge the status quo of existing systems, processes, and controls to identify improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborating with the Head of Commercial Finance to ensure accuracy of budgets and reforecasts.
- Managing the accounts payable process to ensure buyers and the wider business are supported.
- Providing support to other members of the Management Team on key projects.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (preferably ACA) with Audit and Financial Reporting experience.
- Drive positive change.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, but able to simplify issues and articulate them concisely.
- Ability to think through and solve complex problems.
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and improve their experiences.
- In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
- Self-motivated, proactive learner who strives to improve processes and policies by seeking feedback and new ideas/approaches.
- Experience in a retail or customer-facing multi-site business would be advantageous.
- Proficient in accounting software (preferably Microsoft Dynamics) and strong Excel skills.
- Experience in leading and developing a team.
